Heat pump grants and funding
Last reviewed: 20 July 2026
In England and Wales the Boiler Upgrade Scheme gives £7,500 towards an air or ground source heat pump, confirmed until 2029/30. Scotland has its own grants through Home Energy Scotland. The Warm Homes Loan can then fund the balance from September 2026.
| Nation | Grant | Then |
|---|---|---|
| England and Wales | £7,500 | Warm Homes Loan for the balance |
| Scotland | £7,500 (£9,000 rural) | Interest-free top-up loan |
Low-income households
If you are on a qualifying benefit or a lower income with an EPC of D to G, the Warm Homes: Local Grant may fund a heat pump fully where it suits your home, so you would not need the loan at all. The funding wizard checks this for you.
